Coates Builders Ltd completed a single storey extension and partial garage conversion for us in November 2007. They took on the entire project which involved digging the foundations, brickwork and roof construction, glazing, plumbing, plastering and Rendering, electrical fixings, decoration and hard landscaping.

All their work was of an extremely high standard and they were always conscientious, courteous, hard working, helpful, methodical, punctual and reliable. They communicated very effectively throughout the whole project and their friendly and professional manner meant that it was a pleasure dealing with them. Their work was always executed in a clean and tidy way.

Following the successful completion of the above project to refurbish and extend the bungalow at East Meon, I must write to you to say how well the contract went, in our opinion. This is in no small part, due to your excellent performance on site, which we feel was a combination of good management, good craftsman ship, and good communications.

The resulting project, was a pleasure to work on with you, and I know that the client was particularly impressed with your attitude and attention to detail, at all stages of the project.

Since completion of the project I have had a letter from the trust’s solicitors, advising us that at a meeting of the family, all members voiced the opinion, that this was a job very well done, and everyone was very pleased with the outcome. In view of the difficult history of the building, that some of the members of the trust have previously experienced, this was a very good outcome.

I was particularly pleased, that you sought solutions to problems, and presented possible options rather than interrupt the work, when you encountered a difficulty. The innovation that you brought to this project, to meet the very tight deadlines, during the period of extremely inclement weather at the start of the contract, was in no small part responsible for the success of the project. This, coupled with your professional approach to the management of the project, and a clear audit trail of expenditure indicating the savings and the extras that were agreed upon, has meant that the final account was within expectations, and within the revised budget.

I look forward to working with you in the future on other projects, and again thank you for the talents and skills that you and your team brought to this particular job. Having observed the professionalism with which COATES BUILDERS carried out the alterations to East Holme, East Meon, we asked them to do a garage extension for us as well as re-aligning the roof. We were told it would take three weeks, in fact it took two weeks and two days, which just goes to show their attitude to commit to the job, however large or, as in our case, small.

So impressed with their workmanship, attention to detail, punctuality and cleanliness that we then asked them to paint and re-gutter the whole house. Then they brought in their workforce and completed the task in what seemed the minimum time, nonetheless in a well executed manner.

Coates Builders Ltd. did an extension on the rear of our house which started on the 5th January 2009. It was successfully completed by the end of March and we are extremely

pleased with all the work which has been done.

Coates builders are all very helpful and friendly lads who are approachable and go that

extra mile to please their customer. Building work is very disruptive but they kept the disruption to a minimum. We now have a beautiful new kitchen built and installed to perfection.

They also built an office/utility room which was built very efficiently. They came here everyday until the whole job was finished which is what you want when you are having building work.

We had absolutely no problems throughout the building period and we are very satisfied with all the works carried out on our property.

They are thorough, respectable builders and we have recommended them to all of our friends and family and will always do so in the future. We are extremely happy with all the electrical work carried out and the carpentry work too.

Repairs at Old Down Farmhouse, East Meon

Thank you and your team for so promptly and efficiently effecting the repairs at Old Down Farmhouse. We were very favourably impressed with the skill, Knowledge,

application and general good manners of those who worked here. It was a pleasure to have them on site.

The same may be said of your scaffolders to whom I should be grateful if you would pass my remarks.

I am also extremely grateful for the attendance on Saturday morning of your team who with great care investigated and repaired a leak causing water to drip through

your new work. It would seem that there were two defects at Old Down rather than one. We correctly assessed that the deterioration of the fascia on the gable end was due to its exposure

to the weather. What we had failed to realise was that the soffit by the bay window had rotted due to water ingress from the gully between the roofs.

This was discovered and repaired temporarily on Saturday morning; we will be in touch over a more permanent repair in due course.

Coates Builders undertook a garage conversion for us and created a large modern kitchen and dining room.  From the first visit by David Coates to the final sign off we experienced a timely, professional, friendly and attentive service from the three Coates brothers and their tightly-run team of colleagues and sub-contractors, most of whom they have worked with for years.  Although running a very busy firm, David and Mark were always  accessible by email and telephone and for none of their team was anything too difficult or too much trouble.  Any issues arising during the build were addressed promptly and with a minimum of fuss.  Their quote was competitive and, at all stages, we felt that we were getting value for money.  

We are delighted with the result, which came in on budget, and David, Mark and Chris and their team can be  justifiably proud of their work.  We would not hesitate to use them again and would be happy to recommend them to other potential clients.
